What’s your next extreme fitness challenge? Here are 3 crazy ones to try...

Gone are the days when people boasted about their half hour gym session, now it’s all about putting your stamina to the test in extreme ways. Remember when everyone and their mum was doing the 30 Day Squat Challenge? Well, the ante has well and truly been upped. Here are a few crazy challenges you might want to try:

The 30K Challenge

It seems a sweaty selfie from your spin class just isn’t enough to make an impact on social media anymore. You’ve got to up your game, and today that usually means upping your numbers. Sure, most of us can do a push-up, but can you do 30,000 push-ups, 30,000 squats and 30,000 sit-ups in just 365 days? One Twitter user began doing just that on October 22nd in 2016, and has committed to a year of this intense 30K challenge. Is it for the genuine love of squats, or is it for the Twitter followers and the likes that come with such a challenge? There’s no way to tell, but it’s pretty darn impressive nonetheless. Anyone for 30,000 sit-ups?

100,000 Burpees with The Burpee Guy

Can you do 67,000 burpees in a year? The Burpee Guy can. Not only that, he’s planning to do 100,000 burpees in 2017. Ouch.“In 2016 I did over 67k burpees and raised over £16k for St George's Hospital. In 2017 I plan to do over 100,000 burpees.” - The Burpee GuyThe Burpee Guy, AKA Craig Peters, completed over 67,000 burpees by adding one rep each day from the first to the last day of the year. Now he encourages others to decide their exercise of choice and take part in the 1-365 Challenge. Think you can handle it?‍

365 Days of Sweat

It’s one thing to add a rep every day, but to do a whole workout every day? GoSweat founders Alex and Steph began their 365 Days of Sweat challenge on the 1st of January 2017 to help promote the upcoming launch of GoSweat. At the time of publishing this blog, they will have completed their 208th day of sweat, and although their muscles hurt more than usual, they’re loving every minute of it and hoping to encourage other Londoners to join in.

“It’s definitely a challenge, but it’s been really fun so far”, says GoSweat co-founder Steph Newport-Booth. “I never pictured myself as someone who could work out every single day, but now that I’ve been doing it for several months it comes so naturally. I feel fitter and healthier, and I know we’ll make it to the end. There’s something about committing to a challenge like this that gives you that drive to finish it and motivate others to do the same.”

If you feel inspired to follow GoSweat’s 365 Days of Sweat challenge (and perhaps join in?) then head over to the Instagram page here for a look at the journey so far.
